Methodology

  • Manual VED calculations are based on published April 2026 rates and supporting guidance.
  • The calculator supports the post-2017 standard-rate system, the 2001 to 2017 CO2 bands, and pre-2001 engine-size bands.
  • For live taxed or untaxed status, users are sent to the official GOV.UK checker rather than an unofficial cached lookup.
