These tables mirror the official April 2026 DVLA rates for cars. The standard rate is £200, the expensive car supplement is £440, and zero-emission cars first registered on or after 1 April 2025 now use a more than £50,000 list-price threshold for the additional rate.

EV and hybrid notes
- New zero-emission cars pay £10 first-year VED from 1 April 2026.
- Electric cars registered between 1 April 2017 and 31 March 2025 pay £200.
- Legacy zero-emission cars from 2001 to 2017 pay £20.
- The £10 hybrid discount has been removed from 2026/27 rates.
- The EV expensive car supplement only applies when list price is more than £50,000 and the car was first registered on or after 1 April 2025.
